In the 80’s in Cabo Verde, on the island of São Nicolau, in the small village of Ribeira Funda, the inhabitants decided to leave the place, frightened by a series of tragic events that took place on the island, attributing those tragedies to the forces of evil that lives in the surroundings. Mr. Quirino is the only resident that refused to leave. For four decades, he has refused the help from the local authorities and friends to move him out.
